The Center for Latino Arts and Culture’s Welcome to La Familia is scheduled for Sunday, September 19 from 4-8 PM.
Join us in welcoming our students back to campus! The event is our main outreach program in the fall, celebrating Latine culture and ushering in Latino Heritage Month! The program will feature over two dozen Latinx and multicultural student organizations, dozens of student leaders and hundreds of participating students.
This year, we are excited to present the lively Grupo Rebolu. With some of the finest Colombian musicians in the United States, Grupo Rebolu founders Ronald Morris, Morris Cañate, and Johanna Castaneda combine their talents as an ensemble enriched by the musical traditions of their Afro-Colombian ancestors on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. With mesmerizing traditional beats and urban Caribbean sounds, this music goes into your system like a dose of pure energy!
The program will also feature our RU alumnus (and aspiring medical doctor in the house!) DJ Mike Phresh (aka Michael Acevedo), along with deliciously grilled foods and savory dishes, and more.
