On October 14th The Rutgers Center for Latin American Studies sponsored a forum with two specialists on Colombia's contemporary political crisis.

Julian Gomez, is a Ph.D. student at the New School University.  He studies the cold war in Colombia. Edilma Suarez, teaches at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.  She is a specialist in public health and participated in the leadership of the National Strike Committee during the 2021 movements.

Javier Gonzalez Cortez organized the event.  Javier is a Ph.D. Student in the History Department.  He is also the convener of the CLAC Colombia working group.

Questions and discussion were managed by Professor Laura Schneider, Professor of Geography at Rutgers.

Twenty three students, faculty and community members from both the US and Colombia joined in a careful discussion of the protest movement and the Colombian state's repressive response.
