Jazmin Puicon defended her dissertation on October 30th as part of the Ph.D. program in Latin American History.  Her dissertation, "CREATING CALI: THE RISE OF POPULAR DEMOCRACY IN THE CAUCA VALLEY, COLOMBIA DURING THE TWENTIETH CENTURY" engages labor, gender, migration and cultural history to tell the story of how urban workers came to shape and conceive their neighborhoods and class culture.
