An exciting update about our upcoming symposium.
"The Many Worlds of Mainland 'British Latin America'" (website to be updated soon).
We received so many wonderful proposals that we decided to expand the symposium to two days. It now will be held on May 5 and 6, 2022 (location TBA).
We are also excited to share that Professor Gaiutra Bahadur will be joining us as the keynote speaker on the 5th while Professor Alissa Trotz will serve as the closing commentator for the final session on the 6th. Some participants will be joining us virtually, but most will be physically present.
Just to give you a sense of the range of papers---we have presenters working on the British empire and capitalism in Venezuela, the politics of Black autonomy in Belize, and the cultural and financial worlds of "Coolie" women in Guyana, among so many others.
