"Colonial Sources, Children's Voices, and Writing a History of Reformatories in the Post-slavery Caribbean"

Dr. Juanita De Barros is a Professor in the Department of History at McMaster University and the director of the Centre for Human Rights and Restorative Justice. She researches the history of health, gender, and reproductive rights in the Caribbean within the context of imperialism and post-slavery societies. Her current project explores the intersection of health and the law through child incarceration in state institutions in the early 20th century Caribbean.
